Betty Edmond: Painter

Having spent most of her professional career as a physician, Betty decided it was finally time to pursue the creative art of oil painting, a fine art form she has always admired. She immersed herself in the study of painting, first with Austin Fine Arts’ artist Elizabeth Locke and instruction by the impressionist painter Lilli Pell, and then through self study.

Now, nearly two decades later, Betty appreciates painting as a lifelong learning pursuit. Living with her husband Mike at their Hill Country family ranch in Fischer, Texas, she particularly marvels at how painting has enabled her to better “see” nuances of light, color and form in nature that she otherwise may have missed. Her predominant style of painting is landscape realism, where she is most inspired by the creation of a scene’s atmosphere and the painting of details in a landscape that make each fine art piece unique.

Betty’s has had an opportunity to show her work in galleries throughout Central Texas and finds that her greatest satisfaction comes when others see beauty in her work and want to bring this beauty into their own lives.
