Mixed Media Surfaces Workshop with Susan Best

Join us as we explore a variety of techniques and media for building mixed surfaces to achieve a finished composition. Includes collage, acrylic paint, drawing media, and use of found objects. We’ll also create collage material using leftover supplies.
~ About the Artist ~
Mixed media artist, Susan Best, received a BFA in Studio Art from Sam Houston State University, with Summa Cum Laude hon-ors. She continued with graduate studies in Fine Art at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and earned a Master of Arts degree, majoring in Printmaking with a minor in Painting.
~ Techniques ~
Being drawn to thick paint and textural surfaces, Best begins her mixed media process with intuitive collage work, layering papers and other printed material with acrylic paint and medium. Images and words that become lost in the process, most often by chance, are vital to the finished work .
